Tynemouth Station

tynemth-mrkt.jpg This market couldn’t be easier to get to. Jump on the Metro to the coast, hop off at Tynemouth Station and you’re there. Every weekend, this quiet, restored Victorian station comes to life with the hustle and bustle of hundreds of bargain hunters. Beneath the glass and wrought iron canopies of this beautiful listed building, you’ll discover plenty of stalls weighed down with tempting goodies. On Saturday people search for antiques, bric-a-brac and books, while on Sundays the focus changes to crafts, household and practical items (as well as CDs/DVDs etc). Every third Saturday of the month the market is joined by local farmers selling their fruit, vegetables, meat, cheeses and home-baked cakes and bread. There is also a dedicated book fair four times a year. So why not make a day of it as there are places to eat and drink there, too. Open 9am to 4pm. For information on booking a stall, tel. 01670 536911.
