Absolutely scandalous!
When ‘The School for Scandal’ debuted in 1777, the praise it won was effusive (“The most finished and faultless comedy we have”) and that praise hasn’t let up ever since. This latest production sees Joseph Marcell (of ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’) taking the role of Sir Peter Teazle. He believes that his young wife is sleeping with someone else. Trouble is, she isn’t. But she’s starting to think that if her husband believes it, she may as well give it a go. Because if you’re going to cause a few waves in life – a scandal, in fact – you might as well enjoy it. ‘The School for Scandal’ remains naughty and silly and enormous fun.
