Show me the Honey!

The prodigiously talented Honeyblood is coming to Newcastle this May, which is the best news you’re gonna hear all day.

For all intents and purposes Honeyblood is Scottish indie-rocker Stina Tweeddale (when Honeyblood formed there was also Shona McVicar). But now backed by her supporting live band, Tweeddale has become one of the finest breakout Scottish acts of the last decade. Indeed Honeyblood’s first three albums were all nominated for the Scottish Album of the Year Award. Honeyblood has also supported the likes of Foo Fighters, Palma Violets, Courtney Barnett and Sleigh Bells – and always went down a storm with up-for-it indie fans. Tweeddale’s 2019 album ‘In Plain Sight’ was produced by John Congleton, who’d previously twiddled knobs for Angel Olsen and St. Vincent, and his input signalled Honeyblood’s melodic and art-rocking leanings. And those leanings have reached a full flowering on her latest long-player, which is packed with well-crafted songs that simply soar. What’s more, they demand to be heard live – which is kinda handy… DP
