The world before TikTok…

The ‘Childhood’ exhibition at the Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery in Alnwick explores the changing experiences of being young and carefree.

Bailiffgate continues to hit us up with shows that charm and delight, and their latest is a real doozy. Using images, literature, activities, and a range of historical toys and examples of life at school, it gives visitors a real insight into how childhood was spent down through the years. Naturally, it’s a real family-friendly show and there will be plenty of stuff for children to get involved with including popular childhood games, ‘I-spy’ activities, and a reading corner with puppets. You will also be able to enjoy artwork from brilliant local artist Stella Vine and poems from a local poet reflecting on the themes of the show. Jean Humphrys, Chair of Bailiffgate: “We are thrilled to be showing the Childhood exhibition and know that children and adult visitors alike will enjoy all elements of the exhibition – a chance to remember some of our favourite things about our childhood and see how things have changed over time.”
