First releases are always what I’m most excited to review, and Nectar Woode has proven exactly why that is the case. Nothing To Lose places Woode’s beautiful, soulful vocals and impressive songwriting skills centre-stage. Her lyrics are charismatic while her jazz-infused sound is dynamic and textured, yet still retaining a distinctness about it. From the feel good, hip hop beat of ‘Good Vibrations’ to the heartfelt, lullaby-like ‘Other Side’, this debut is an impressive demonstration of who Nectar Woode is as an artist, and though she may have nothing to lose, I anticipate she has much to gain.
