Queer history made modern

Curious Arts has a huge heritage project underway that brings generations together through a look at the past. Intrigued? Read on...

When You Were Me is the next big youth project from Curious Arts. It’s an initiative that allow teens to get to know about the rich queer heritage of Newcastle beyond the Pink Triangle, with help from sessions at One Strawberry Lane, the Discovery Museum and the Theatre Royal. Many stories will be told, many of the Toon’s secrets will be revealed, and there will be huge celebrations of generations past, generations that paved the way for the LGBTQIA+ young people of today. If you're a teen, or a parent of a teen, this completely free project is the perfect chance to learn so much more about the city and the beautiful people that built our community. MW

When You Were Me, until 8th June, free. More info: curiousarts.org.uk
