At just short of 15 minutes long, Little Simz’ latest release is the epitome of ‘good things come in small (or rather, Little) packages’. Starting incredibly strong with ‘Mood Swings’, which is probably my favourite track of 2024 so far, Drop 7 offers thunderous percussion, razor sharp verses and a distinct flavour of club music. Despite being constantly high energy, the album is far from one-note, serving up a delicious array of sound that ranges from amapiano, to trap, to drum’n’bass. This release marks 10 years since the artist’s Drop series began, and I can’t think of a better anniversary gift than this. LT
