Formed in 2017, Floral Detectives are a Darlington four-piece who number a former guitarist and bassist of The Damned among their ranks. And he can certainly dish out those incendiary riffs as evidenced here on this mini album, which features seven tracks infused with the spirit of alternative rock. It’s powerful, sweaty and anthemic stuff and well served by those all-important guitar- based hooks that come tumbling at you from all directions. Ok, they’re not reinventing the wheel but sometimes a blast of classic rock, played with plenty of oomph, is exactly what you need to get you through the day. DP
