This bunch are a Middlesbrough band who have just been signed (or “snapped up” in PR speak) by Sound-Hub Records.
Local: Street Party In Soho
Street Party In Soho are from North Shields, but I suppose Street Party Down The Docks didn’t sound quite so snappy. Whatever. They’re excellent.
This four piece from Newcastle have been pulled together from the remnants of other local bands and their new EP has had me coming over all “Hello! What is this!”
Say “Well hello sailor!” to Schultz, a Newcastle based band who, it says here, are a “dark-pop outfit”. Crikey.
Local: Argen’s Winter
Despite sounding like a chapter culled from Lord Of The Rings, Argen’s Winter is actually this 20-year-old singer/songwriter. He’s very good.
Local: El Cid
Looking at this pic, I’d say that El Cid had a vibe? Would you say they’ve got a vibe? I’d definitely say they’ve got a vibe.
Say “Hi. How’s tricks?” to Stig (his bank statements call him Stephen Patterson) an electronic buccaneer who marries proggy flights of fancy to precision chiptune know-how.
Local: Gem Andrews
Newcastle based Gem Andrews knows a thing or two about singer/songwriterly stuff and her new album, Vancouver, is a revelation.
This lovely lad is ako (or “Simeon Soden” as his bank statements insist on calling him) and he’s a really rather good and emerging producer of, in his words, “EDM”.
Local: Slow Decades
Lovely jumper, dude. And, hey, lovely new album, too.
Local: Hunting Game
Here’s Hunting Game looking for all the world like they’ve just been told that Father Christmas is actually Nigel Farage in a grubby red santa suit.
Local: Doctor Socrates
Newcastle band Doctor Socrates have just released a couple of new videos to go with their double a-side The End of Old Tyneside, and they are quite superb.
Local: Border Scout
Things that we know about Border Scout from this image: there are definitely two of them.
