Detail
He may be Shakespeare’s greatest rogue, braggart and liar, but Sir John Falstaff has always been a magnet for theatre-goers and actors alike. This illustrated lecture offers a chance to examine the character in relation not just to “Henry IV parts I and II” and “The Merry Wives of Windsor”, but also to historical sources, popular culture, artistic representation, his off-stage death and his operatic incarnation.
