For the Record

‘Recording Time’ is a group exhibition at the Gallagher & Turner gallery that explores music, heritage, duration and more.

How do YOU enjoy marking, or passing, time? Do you doom-scroll, listen to music, make art? This show plays on the idea of ‘recording time’ in multiple ways. Rachael Clewlow turns her annotated notebooks, which document her various journeys, into vividly coloured abstract artworks (that’s her ‘Colour Register #1’ pictured). Other exhibitors include Catherine Bertola (her drawings use dust to recreate wallpaper patterns), Nick Kennedy (two kinetic sculptures perform their 12-hour sequences), Anna Chapman Parker (her drawings ask what happens when we’re bored), Alan Hathaway (his work draws on David Bowie footage) and Matthew Hearn (with a collection of 12” records reworked by local artists). Also showing will be a rare set of photos of the Beatles by Jane Bown.
