Side-splitting stars

Curious Arts is taking over Jesterval at Gosforth Civic Theatre in May for a night of gay frivolity that will leave you in stitches.

Does Gosforth Civic Theatre have enough room to house all these charmingly camp LGBTQIA+ comedians in the house? We’re about to find out! Expect to hear witty one-liners, stories that will make your head spin, and some of the silliest jokes you’ll hear all year from a wonderful mix of award-winning and underground comedy superstars including TV queen Bethany Black (pictured), Geordie joker Connor Read, Fringe fancy Louise Young and poetic pretender Nicola Mantalios. The whole thing will be hosted by the estimable Cal Halbert, one of the region’s very finest. Showcasing the queerest comedy around, if you don’t leave with a laughter induced bellyache, then I’ll be very surprised. MW

Jesterval is Curious, Saturday 18 May, Gosforth Civic Theatre, Newcastle, 7pm, from £12, gosforthcivictheatre.co.uk
