Ponyland - Hare Brains

Oh, wow! I love an album that leaves me feeling like someone has shoved a Dyson up my jumper and Ponyland’s ‘Hare Brains’ delivers that experience in spades. They’re a self-described “psychotropic-punk 6 piece from Newcastle” and cite bands such as The Comet is Coming as kindred spirits, but that’s only half the story. This is a knickerbocker glory of a release, tumbling with day-glo jazzy bops and riffs the size of planets. The band also know their way around a pell-mell melody and this album is chockfull of them. A thrilling release. (Note: They’re playing Star & Shadow on 27 April.) RM

Released 5 April on Up In Her Room
