The acclaimed Latvian American artist Vija Celmins produces work that takes its cue from natural phenomena, and you can see some of the best of it at the Hatton Gallery in Newcastle.

It doesn’t matter if it’s vast (the infinite expanse of the night sky) or it’s intimate (the delicate intricacies of a spider’s web) – as long as it’s part of the natural world then Vija Celmins is interested. Her exquisite drawings and prints make up this show, which is drawn from the ARTIST ROOMS national collection.
