Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign - VULTURES 1

Kanye West has made some pretty unforgivable remarks as of late, so it’s understandable if you’d prefer to give this one a miss. However, if you operate on a ‘separate the art from the artist’ policy, VULTURES 1 has a fair bit to offer. The mix is clean, the samples provide sonic variety and the balance of melody and rhythm is on point. However, what VULTURES 1 fails to be is memorable - no songs particularly stand out and Kanye’s delivery actually falls pretty flat. In fact it’s Ty who carries this album for me, an amazing feat in itself when your collaborator’s name is as big as Kanye’s. I’d give the track ‘PROBLEMATIC’ a skip, though - it does what it says on the tin. LT
