After an almost six year hiatus that felt like it was never going to end, Paramore are BACK! While their previous release, After Laughter, marked a musical shift into sunny, old-school pop, This Is Why is a return to darker, rockier territories, but with a mature, self-assured aura that sets it apart from their days of pop punk. It’s markedly post-pandemic - the lyrics “This is why I don’t leave the house / You say the coast is clear, but you won’t catch me out” are a little too relatable - but perhaps it is this period of downtime and reflection that has allowed them to really grow as a band.
