This debut from Irish artist Jessica Smyth, alias Biig Piig, is an eclectic mix of seven tracks that all offer something different. There’s a little bit of low-fi here, some R&B there, and Smyth’s unique, breezy vocals tie it all together to create a seamless mixtape that shows off her impressive musical chops. The production of Bubblegum also stands out - which is no surprise, since Smyth is the co-founder of London-based DIY music collective, NiNE8 - and her candid way of writing lyrics is very compelling indeed. Short but sweet, Bubblegum leaves you wanting more in the best way. LT
