Gabrielle Aplin - Phosphorescent

I was delighted when I heard Gabrielle Aplin had a new album on the way, having been a fan since her debut ‘English Rain’ in 2013. Aplin’s sound has really blossomed over the years, and this fourth release is the perfect blend of the gentle, stripped-back musings that characterised her earlier music, with unfamiliar genres such as low-fi and pop. Aplin’s lyrical talents have also developed nicely; the songs on ‘Phosphorescent’ have a markedly introspective feel to them, taking us along on a journey of how Aplin has grown and matured. And the narration of her delicate, breathy vocals ties everything together. LT
