Melbourne-based Gena Rose Bruce made something of a splash in 2019 with her debut album ‘Can’t Make You Love Me’, an alt/rock/pop hybrid that brought comparisons with everyone from The Cramps to Mazzy Star. This releases sees her continuing to plough a furrow all of her own, whether she’s hitting those big choruses (‘I’d Rather Be A Dreamer’) or tackling dark introspection (‘Morning Stars’). A startlingly beautiful album. JL
