Addie Brik - That Dog Don’t Hurt

Discovered by Peter Gabriel, and mentored by Allen Ginsberg, Addie Brik – who was born in US but has lived in the UK since 1998 – is an artist who just keeps coming up with the goods. Her latest album (which features contributions from Deacon Blue’s Jim Prime, Alex Rex of Trembling Bells and Robbie MacIntosh – who has worked with The Pretenders and Paul McCartney) is a bracing and melodic listen that takes in everything from breezy alt country to Kate Bush tinged pop. Very good it is too. JL

Released 25 November on Itza Records
