Wallis Bird - Hands

Irish born, Berlin-based, Wallis Bird’s seventh studio album is an incredibly bracing listen, whether she’s hitting us up with skew-whiff R&B (‘Go’, which sounds like Joni Mitchell hitting the town) or up-front pop rhythms (‘What’s Wrong With Changing’, which sounds like Fiona Apple going through a Janet Jackson phase). Always surprising and supremely inventive (without sacrificing her undoubted songwriting nous) this release is an utter revelation. DP

Released 27 May on Mount Silver Records
