This Teesside bunch take art-pop and skip hand-in-hand merrily with it down some very interesting avenues. Known for their instrument-swapping and chaotic live shows, they’ve bottled the essence of their DIY, mutant punk-funk here on a release which sees them reaching into their big grab-bag of tricks to pull out some real firecracker riffs and grooves. They also have the keen melodic nous of someone like Vampire Weekend, but, in truth, they are in a genre of their very own making. Where others zig, Werbeniuk zag. DP
