I love a good curio and this is a peach: a soundtrack for a shelved north-east coming-of-age film set in the post-Thatcher era. om10 were brought in early on the project, working with the script and location stills to produce the soundtrack, and this is the result. It’s ambient, but ambient with a darker, more uncomfortable edge. ‘Endless Shift’ has a suitably grinding quality, while ‘The Last Bus’ has a propulsive, after-midnight feel. In all, it’s a suitably widescreen affair, and a remarkable act of salvation from this abandoned project. GM
