beabadoobee - Pylon

I’ve always enjoyed following beabadoobee on her musical journey; starting out as a lo-fi, bedroom pop artist with a distinctly DIY acoustic sound, she has consistently expanded her music to new sonic territories. Pylon is her heaviest release yet, and quite possibly my favourite. The dissonance between her signature saccharine vocals and distorted, grungy guitar riffs with screeching feedback adds a whole new dimension to her sound, where soft and harsh textures interplay to capture the angst that bubbles under the surface of her sincere lyrics. There’s something cathartic about listening to something angry from an artist who usually writes sweet, gentle love songs. LT
