Works for me!

The much-loved Ouseburn Open Studios weekend returns in November, and, as ever, I’ll be making a bee-line for Mushroom Works.

I love a mingle, and the Ouseburn Open Studios weekend provides ample opportunity to mix with the friendly community of artists and designers who have studios in the Ouseburn area of Newcastle. And this year Mushroom Works is giving us the chance to meet five new artists and makers including fine artist Gabriella Burns (pictured), book designer Luke Bird, and botanical illustrator Charlotte Johnston. They will join the familiar faces at Mushroom Works while showcasing a diverse range of creative disciplines from furniture to jewellery, paintings to ceramics. The studio’s weekend will begin with a special preview evening on Friday, offering an early opportunity to explore. And—get this!—the wonderful French Oven Café will be serving delicious baked goods and excellent coffee throughout the weekend. So whether you’re looking for an original piece of art, searching for a unique gift, or are simply curious about what happens inside a working studio, Mushroom Works will offer a toasty welcome.
