The inaugural Zombiefest Weekender in Wallsend doesn’t feature any zombies—far from it…

‘The Daylight Zombie Buskers Club’ has been running at the Lindisfarne Club in Wallsend on the last Tuesday afternoon of the month for the past two years, and now they’re all set to host their first two-day festival. The Zombiefest Weekender brings together some of the finest rock, blues, Americana, indie bands, and solo artists around for what should be a real celebratory affair. The line-up is huge—and spread over two rooms—and includes The Whisky Flowers (pictured), a band who deliver a high-octane collision of blues-soaked swagger and unvarnished indie grit. Also kicking up a storm will be the likes of the Brian Rawson Band, the powerhouse outfit built around fiery guitar work and the awesome songwriting talents of Brian Rawson; Glasgow-based blues-rockers extraordinaire Bison Hip; The James Oliver Band, knocking out high-energy blues and rockabilly; the blues-rock power trio The Dirt Road Band; and The Fargo Railroad Company, a real knock-out live act who draw inspiration from 1970s American roots music, Southern rock, and modern outlaw country sounds. ‘The Daylight Zombie Buskers Club’—and spin-off  ‘Live Big Gig’ one Sunday each month—has attracted a loyal and friendly crowd, and the vibe should be equally as affable when this Zombiefest Weekend rumbles into town.
