Newcastle’s Discovery Museum has launched a new Special Exhibitions Gallery with the first show being ‘Things That Go!’

In the 1950s you wouldn’t find kids gawping at Bluey on an iPad. You’d find them whizzing round terrorising all and sundry in this rather natty pedal car. And this fine vehicle is just one of the exhibits you can see at ‘Things That Go!’, a nicely playful show that looks at, yep, things destined not to remain stationary for any length of time. From bikes to tractors, trains to prams, this family-friendly trot through moving things contains multitudes. Highlights include a surfboard belonging to North Tyneside’s British and international surfing champion Gabe Davies, and a toy van made for the Fenwick family in1938. On your marks, get set, go (and see it!).
