Newcastle’s Charts and Graphs are delightfully in thrall to the artier end of post-punk—think Talking Heads, Pere Ubu, Wire, Devo etc—but they inject their mutant take on those infectious herky-jerky rhythms with buckets of fresh vibes and contemporary dash to go. And they give fizzing tracks such as ‘All Night Garage’ and ‘Humans’ a real slap-sting immediacy, and the kind of danceable grooves that send me into paroxysms of delight. Make no mistake, this is an album packing real heat, and it’s absolutely overflowing with wonderments. DP
