There’s a rare streak of authenticity running through the work of Hector Gannet, the kind of which you’ll only find in special artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison and Kevin Rowland. Led by Aaron Duff, the third album from this North Shields band is their most full-bodied yet, with a punchy brass section to the fore, and the kind of big-hearted tunes that are incredibly rousing. Even slower tracks—such as the gorgeous ‘Boat in The Bottle’—are imbued with a showstopping quality that’ll hold you absolutely rapt. In short: clasp them to your bosom. DP
