One bill. Three bands, and each with a defining characteristic: they’re capable of thrilling the pants off you. And The Grove in Newcastle is the place to be this October to catch one of Autumn’s most exhilarating line-ups.

This rather frothy line-up has been hand-picked by Stephen Lovell, mover and groover with Sjlhistorian, who are presenting this gig. He told us: “I have selected these three young bands for their energetic and passionate approaches to a broadly alternative rock style. Idle Hands (pictured) and Central Arcade are both local bands who have built up a committed following. Idle Hands have a ferociously heavy alternative rock meets shoegaze sound. Central Arcade have a post-punk style with increasingly politicised lyrics. Stageminus, meanwhile, are a popular upcoming band from Leeds, but have played Newcastle previously on tour.” I can certainly endorse all of the above, as this trio readily demonstrate that the guitar-based indie scene is currently on an upward swing.
