There’s a new family day out in Sunderland city centre this autumn. Culture House, The National Centre for Creative Smart Cities on Keel Square is now open, with four floors packed with things to discover, enjoy and explore together.

At its heart is Sunderland’s new City Library, including The Den, where younger children can choose from a collection of books, enjoy stories and get creative through play. Older children can head to the Teen Library for gaming stations, VR headsets and cosy reading spaces.

Families can also enjoy exciting exhibitions, digital experiences, activities, performances and workshops throughout the year. The opening exhibition, Our Home in Space, takes visitors on an unforgettable journey from the depths of the ocean to outer space.

There’s plenty of room to meet, relax and refuel too, with Blacks Corner serving food and drink on the ground floor.
