With Friends like these…
Brighton’s premier indie-pop groovers, Fickle Friends are bringing their infectious, sun-drenched synth-pop to the intimate confines of Think Tank? this October which means my excitement levels are pushing ‘OMG!’. Fronted by the charismatic Natassja Shiner, the band has spent the last year or so rolling out a stellar run of singles. Fresh tracks like the grit-tinged ‘Feral’, the suitably dreamlike ‘Dream’, and their latest shimmering releases ‘Swoon’ and ‘Happier’ prove that Fickle Friends have lost none of their signature hook-writing magic. Instead, they have returned from a brief hiatus with a matured, emotionally charged sound that perfectly bridges nostalgic 80s synths with modern indie sensibilities. And their third, self-titled album delivered in spades. The band has a reputation for delivering high-octane, joyous live sets, and this show is bound to be a sweaty, celebratory affair. Expect a setlist packed to the brim with nostalgic favourites like ‘Swim’ alongside their brilliant new material. If their recent London comeback show—which sold out in a staggering five minutes—is any indication, tickets won’t stick around. Grab yours, bring your energy, and prepare for a brilliant night of pure indie-pop escapism. JL
