Martin is currently celebrating the 40th anniversary of his seminal 1986 debut album ‘Boat to Bolivia’. In this collection, Martin has taken a few steps back to re-record the Daintees’ very first songs. It was recorded at the Bunker, the epicentre of Sunderland’s creative musical community when the self-styled ‘Sunshine Boys’ moved away from punk—just like his musical brothers from another mother, Edwyn and Roddy, a little further north in Glasgow. It is a life-affirming selection of songs, from the blissed-out reverie of their first Kitchenware single ‘Roll On Summertime’ to the Duane Eddy stylings of ‘Tremelo Man’.
