The second album from this Morpeth-based fella is a shimmering, poppy delight. He says the release deals “with serious illness and bereavement, looking back at the place I grew up, and the urge to escape” which may make it sound heavy-going, but these full-bodied tunes have all the melodic nous of 1980s pop titans such as Hall & Oates or Phil Collins. Hebden also comments that ‘The Other Side’ refers “to getting through difficult situations with hope and optimism” and that certainly comes across in these effervescent songs. Fab! DP
