On Styrofoam Winos’ third album, the chemistry and impressive musicianship across this trio just oozes out of their music; they frequently swap instruments and singing duties, which lends a diverse yet cohesive feel to these 11 tracks. The Winos strike an essential balance between the playful and the sincere - perfectly demonstrated by the contrast between my two favourite tracks on the album, which directly follow each other: ‘New Friend’ is a melodic meditation on human connection, while in ‘Swimmin’ fuzzy guitars accompany monotonous vocals that sing the refrain “I’m swimming in the ocean / You’re in a jacuzzi”.
