Silent Pictures (LAB)

Few things bring me more joy than discovering a fresh new act that I love - this month, it’s Mouth Ulcers. The London-based four piece are an amalgamation of Joy Division and The Cure (two of my favourite bands) into a beautiful Frankenstein’s Monster. Classic, jangly post-punk guitar riffs meet melodic bass lines and melodramatic, hushed baritone vocals to create a dark and cinematic sound that pairs wonderfully with the band’s distinct, gothic aesthetic. It’s rare to see a band so early in their career carve out such a clear sense of identity, both sonically and visually, so I’m incredibly excited to see what these guys do next LT
