Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Jenny Don’t and The Spurs have spent over a decade refining a ye-haw sound that sits at the crossroads of classic outlaw country, 1960s surf-rock, and the raw urgency of the Pacific Northwest’s garage-punk scene. They are often described as “Western with a vengeance”, a label that perfectly captures their ability to shift from a heartbroken ballad to a high-speed, reverb-drenched anthem without missing a beat. The band’s magnetic centre is Jenny Don’t, whose voice carries the lonesome, powerful resonance of country legends like Patsy Cline or Wanda Jackson, but with an underlying grit that betrays her roots in the punk underground. Backed by the formidable Spurs – a tight-knit unit featuring players with deep ties to the punk and rockabilly scenes – the music is characterized by sharp, twanging guitar riffs and a driving rhythm section that keeps the energy at a fever pitch.
