Attention aspiring artists!
A free 11-month development programme for aspiring artists and arts workers in our region who have not been to university, ‘Create/Disrupt’ challenges traditional pathways into the arts, creating space for people who face social and economic barriers to access and sustain creative careers. Entering its fifth year, each version of ‘Create/Disrupt’ is different—the programme is guided by the interests and ambitions of each small cohort of participants. Through workshops, mentoring, studio space, field trips, shadowing and exhibition opportunities, emerging artists forge a supportive creative community whilst developing their own practice. Previous participants have described the experience as ‘transformative’ and a ‘game changer’, helping them grow networks, access opportunities and build confidence. Izzy Finch, ‘Create/Disrupt’ Project Manager, said: “As someone who did not go to university, I recognise how my own personal path to becoming an arts worker was defined through accessing creative, development opportunities from a young age. ‘Create/Disrupt’ is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has ever felt like the arts sector isn’t for them but has a desire to be part of a creative community and begin exploring what arts work can look like.”
Applications for ‘Create/Disrupt’ are now open. Contact izzy@thenewbridgeproject.com for an informal chat. Deadline 3 September. Programme begins 29 September.
