Lasses X the Girlie Show at Live Theatre

Two local all-female variety shows, Hendrika Seguro-Bigg’s Girlie Show and Rosie Bowden’s Lasses, teamed up at Live Theatre this month to deliver a weird and whimsical mixture of skits, stand-up, music, and other revelry.

Contending with sweltering temperatures, a heckler, and a scheduling conflict with Taylor Swift’s wedding, the show was nonetheless a near sell-out. It finished off with an audience singalong, after which people stayed late into the night, eating their “girl dinner” - scones and other picky bits - in the theatre’s undercroft.

The show itself was a who’s who of local comedy talent, with familiar faces such as Maya Torres, Lauren Pattison and Nat Young, as well as relative newcomers like Ella McFetrich and the mononymous Triangle. Hopefully they’ll all be able to get together and do it again sometime soon.

So, are you sick of your coworkers talking about their bus commute? Do you ever wonder about those single abandoned shoes on the side of the motorway? Would you give the Pied Piper your children if he did a really good job of removing your rat infestation? If so, this is the show for you.
