Bleachers - everyone for ten minutes
Just in time for summer, Bleachers have dropped this album of sunny indie pop beats and anthemic choruses - a light and airy type of album I’m usually fond of around this time of year. However, after reading his blogs on the importance of staying true to oneself amidst the overexposure of modern life and protecting the arts from “grifters” and “godless whores”, I fear Jack Antonoff is trying to do more than that here. While the lyricism is definitely sharp, the muted production choices and understated vocals buckle under the weight of the words. The result is a confused sound that unfortunately never quite delivers on its promises. LT
