Maisie Peters - Florescence
Maisie Peters’ ‘The Good Witch’ is one of my favourite pop albums ever - so I was nervous when the singles from ‘Florescence’ were sounding like quite the departure. However, this softer, stripped back and country-leaning version of Peters gives her writing space to breathe, enabling her music to take on this self-assured feel that makes this album seem more *her* than anything she’s done before. Though her unflinching vulnerability through love and loss takes centre stage, we still get some of her trademark bite - ‘Old Fashioned’, my favourite track, is about toxic exes reusing old tricks to ensnare new victims. The title says it all: Maisie Peters is in bloom. LT
