CIRCUS - A Kiss Before Dying
This Newcastle-based three-piece has seemingly arrived fully-formed if their debut album is anything to go by. They’ve mined rock’s past for its most golden treasures and forged them into something fresh and vibrant. ‘Hearts on the Wire’ has the raw oomph of 70s glam/Slade in their pomp, while ‘Aftermath’ has the strummy charm/power-pop derring-do of ‘Hunky Dory’-era Bowie. Elsewhere they salt their sound with flavours of everything from punk to pell-mell 90s rock, but at the beating heart of it all is their ability to craft rattlingly good tunes. Bravo! DP
