Evanescence - Sanctuary

I grew up watching Kerrang! in the 2000s, so a new Evanescence album is always going to prick my ears up. Sanctuary will delight longtime fans by being packed with nostalgia, while being forward-looking enough to launch the band’s sound into a new era. Amy Lee’s voice sounds just as powerful and hauntingly beautiful as it did when she debuted over 20 years ago, and is accompanied by thunderous, driving guitar riffs and the band’s signature, cinematic sound courtesy of gloomy piano melodies and swelling strings. None of the tracks feel like a rehash of older material, which is really refreshing to see from such a legacy band. LT

Out now on BMG
