The pleasure’s all mine
Throughout July, take a quiet moment to see ‘Queer Pleasure Archive’, a huge array of queer archival content on display at Baltic in Gateshead.
Sarah Li is the artist all over Baltic this month with her gorgeous DIY archive art project taking centre stage. And it’s a project focused on experiences of Queer joy and pleasure rather than traditional historical archives that oftentimes focus on the hardships and struggles of our community. Throughout the month, Baltic and Sarah Li are running sessions to get involved with the project, slowly building our own experiences into the archive itself, including a two-part self-portrait series, and a journaling workshop doubled up as a show and tell with others in the community. The whole thing kicks off as part of Baltic’s Summer Block Party on 4 July, with micro-discussions from Sarah herself and performances from a DGA collective of gender non-conforming and drag artists. This is certainly one for the mind, allowing for more open-thinking and self-reflection in our lives. MW
