Step into a world both ancient and urgent at Ushaw Historic House’s latest exhibition ‘Extinction’.

This compelling showcase bridges the gap between prehistory and the present, guiding visitors through the catastrophic losses of the past – from the dramatic demise of dinosaurs and marine reptiles to the frozen silence of ice age mammoths and the human-driven tragedy of the dodo. But this is more than a history lesson. ‘Extinction’ confronts the uncomfortable question facing humanity today: are we currently living through a sixth mass extinction event? Through a captivating mix of life-size replicas, including a baby triceratops and a utahraptor, alongside interactive displays and expert information, the exhibition explores the complex relationship between climate change, biodiversity, and wildlife law. It’s a sobering yet empowering invitation to discover what we have lost, understand the causes of extinction, and, most importantly, explore the vital role we can play in safeguarding our planet’s future.
