Plenty of wows at Woodhorn this summer
Yes—that is a vintage car you’re looking at, and yes, you will be able to see plenty more like it when Woodhorn holds a Classic and Vintage Car Rally this summer (Sunday 12 July). This will see The North East of England Classic and Pre-War Automobiles Club returning to the museum once again with their amazing array of cars. So, if you’ve ever wanted to get up close to these beauties, and maybe chat with their owners, well now’s your chance. There are plenty of family-friendly things happening at Woodhorn too, including the workshop Footsteps of a Northumbrian Soldier (Friday 10 July). Commemorating the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, this will let youngsters experience everything from enlistment through to active service during WWI. There’s more fun for children with the Early Years Storytime Group (3, 10 and 17 July), Wild Wednesdays (get closer to nature through creative activities – 29 July and 5 August), and the Arts and Crafts sessions (18 July-31 August). And the popular Chat Time – for people who are learning English – is back on 24 July and 28 August. Details on all the above are available from the website, below.
