Monsoon season hits the Tyne
And Jinkx will be front and centre of her highly anticipated new comedy and concert show ‘Speaking of Witch’, a real extravaganza that will see the “Queen of all Queens” return to her unfiltered cabaret roots for an evening that promises to be equal parts magical, musical, and wickedly funny. Fresh from breaking box office records on Broadway, selling out Carnegie Hall, and cementing her status as a genuine theatrical supernova, Jinkx is stepping away from the strict confines of scripted theatre to give audiences a dose of the “O.G. Jinkx”. To that end, ‘Speaking of Witch’ is an intimate, cackle-inducing look into her life, unpacking everything from the realities of womanhood to the hilarious chaos of modern dating and sex. Backed by her longtime collaborator Major Scales and her band, The Badlings, the show features their signature grunge-piano-bar stylings. Audiences can expect a setlist packed with deep cuts and B-sides from artists like Laufey and Sparks, alongside brand-new original tracks from her upcoming EP. As Jinkx herself describes it, the show is a chance to unpack the “witch hunts” of the modern world and “conjure a protection charm through laughter”. In short: don’t pass up the chance to see this global icon at the top of her game, or you will regret it. DP
