Making a Present of the Past
Kynren has won an international reputation for its large-scale Viking battle show, featuring fire, combat, awesome stunts and a community torn apart by internal conflict, but things are being taken up several significant notches this year with the introduction of Kynren – The Storied Lands. This unique daytime attraction will let visitors step into a Viking homestead alive with activity. For make no mistake, this will be a living village rather than a static display. As you wander among the timber homes and bustling workshops, villagers will tend their crops, fisherwomen will go about their work by the water’s edge, and sparks will fly as the blacksmith hammers metal in the heat of a forge. Stories will be shared, fires will burn, and as the atmosphere shifts towards apprehension, warriors will prepare for what lies ahead… Speaking of which, within the park is an arena that holds 1,250 people, and during the evening the live action show will kick into gear. Here you’ll be able to witness the story of a settlement divided between those who want to protect what they have built and others still drawn to conquest, glory, and the call of the sea. Kynren CEO, Anna Warnecke: “The live show delivers scale, pace and conflict, but the village gives visitors context. You see how people lived, worked and prepared long before the first shield is raised. Together they create a much richer and more authentic experience.” And if you’d like to dine before all that argy-bargy kicks off, then Kynren is offering an immersive dining experience that begins with a Tudor-inspired starter, followed by a hearty Viking main (rich with bold flavours), and finishing with Victorian sweet treats. Oh – alcohol will also be available. Result!
