Lit and Phil (your boots)

There’s oodles going on at the Lit & Phil over the next month or two, including this lot.

A lot of places wind down a bit over the summer months. Not so the Lit & Phil. For a kick-off they have some fab and free lunchtime recitals including the Da Vinci Quartet (with a nice bit of Beethoven – 3 July), and Ciara Glasswell (pictured) and David Murray (on violin and piano respectively – 10 July). On the talks front, they have their usual wide-ranging selection for your delectation such as Enchanted Wood: Engraving a Place for Women Artists in Rural Britain (a talk by Professor Kristin Bluemel – 7 July, free), Newcastle Prison: A History (with the authors of a new book about Newcastle’s infamous prison – 25 July, free), and Ghosts of the Lit & Phil (with GHOSTnortheast, 25 July, free). And on performances, I love the look of Hide Watson! This will see Robert Lloyd Parry performing two Sherlock Holmes classics (17 July, £15/£12).
