Oh my goth!

Ghost Dance don’t mind a drop of the dark stuff, and they’ll be drinking deep from the well of all things goth when they visit The Georgian Theatre in Stockton this July.

Ghost Dance has always carried a pedigree that most gothic rock bands would die for, because while many of their 1980s contemporaries faded into the mist of nostalgia, Ghost Dance – led by the ethereal Anne-Marie Hurst – remains a vital, pulse-pounding force on the modern alternative scene. Unlike legacy acts that merely go through the motions, Ghost Dance has undergone a significant creative rebirth. Their 2023 album ‘The Single 8’ proved that the band isn’t just resting on the laurels of classics like ‘River of No Return’. They are still writing hooks that are as sharp and haunting as they were thirty years ago, blending shimmering guitar textures with a drive that feels relevant to today’s post-punk revival. And in a world that feels increasingly fractured, the dark, anthemic escapism of Ghost Dance provides a unique catharsis. They represent the Golden Era of goth, yet they perform with the hunger of a band that still has something to prove. For long-time fans, it's a homecoming; for new listeners, it's a chance to witness the architects of a genre still operating at the height of their powers. GM
